Pet Laser Therapy for Your Companions
Laser therapy is an innovative tool in veterinary medicine. It harnesses light energy to stimulate cell production and tissue regeneration. We use a Class IV laser to treat our patients with chronic and acute conditions. What Does Laser Therapy Do for Your Pet?
With a therapeutic laser, we’re able to reduce pain and inflammation without the use of drugs. While NSAIDs and opioids are highly effective and useful in many situations, they can put pets at risk of side effects when used for the long-term. That’s where laser therapy comes in. It has no risk of side effects and can be used over a long period to treat chronic conditions.
Conditions Treated with Pet Laser Therapy
We recommend our therapeutic laser for a number of conditions including:
- Wound healing
- Post-surgical recovery
- Arthritis
- Intervertebral disc disease
- Dermatitis
- Lick granulomas
- Hip dysplasia
- Joint injuries
- Chronic pain
- Fingal infections
- And more
Frequency of Treatment
The length and number of treatments your pet will need will vary based on their condition and response to treatment. For chronic conditions such as arthritis, they typically need longer sessions and more frequent treatments, Typically, we’ll start with 2-3 sessions per week. Since laser therapy is cumulative, meaning the effect of treatment lengthens as time goes on, we’ll be able to decrease the number of treatments to once a week, then once every two weeks and so on. For wound healing or post-surgical recovery, your pet will likely only need one or two short sessions to reap the benefits.
