Dog & Cat Veterinary Care in Nashua, NH
At All Pets Veterinary Hospital, we want all of our dogs and cats to live long, happy, healthy lives, and we believe prevention is the best medicine to make that happen. That’s why we emphasize preventive wellness care at least once or twice a year, depending on your pet’s age and health status. To accommodate the health needs of every life stage, we offer veterinary care for dogs and cats in and around Nashua. Our services are listed below.
Puppy & Kitten Care
We hope you’re excited about the new four-legged member of your family, and we want to make sure that his first critical years of life are among his best! At your pet’s first visit, we can develop a preventive treatment plan to meet all of his basic healthcare needs. We recommend a wellness visit at least twice a year for your puppy or kitten, which may include any of the following:
- Comprehensive physical examination
- Checking blood work to assess general health
- Recommendations for behavioral and house training
- Parasite screening
- Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
- Development of vaccination schedule
- Dietary recommendations
- Microchipping
Another important part of your pet’s wellness is spaying/neutering. If you don’t plan to breed your pet, we recommend that you spay her/neuter him.
Adult Dog & Cat Care
Dogs and cats are typically considered “adults” at around 2 years of age. To give your companion the best chance at a healthy life, we recommend annual wellness visits, which may include any of the following:
- Nose-to-tail physical examination
- Vaccinations
- Evaluation of the skin, coat, nose, throat, eyes, and ears
- Nutritional recommendations
- Behavior counseling
- Internal and external parasite prevention
- Digital X-rays
- Parasite screening
- Heartworm prevention
- Microchipping (if not already implanted)
If your pet hasn’t yet been spayed or neutered, we recommend that you make an appointment for the procedure to protect him/her from developing certain health problems.
Senior Dog & Cat Care
Dogs age about seven times faster than humans, and cats age about five times faster. During your pet’s senior years (about age 7 for dogs and age 10 for cats), you may notice certain health changes; that’s why we recommend wellness visits at least twice a year for senior pets. These visits allow us to catch signs of illness so we can treat them in their early stages.
While your pet’s health can change as they get older, age is not a disease! The following symptoms are common in older animals, and may indicate underlying disease:
- Irregular stools
- Major changes in weight
- Depression or lethargic behavior
- Changes in hair coat quality
- Loss of muscle mass
- Reduced activity level
- Diminished appetite or trouble eating
- Signs of pain with movement
- Wheezing and coughing
- Vomiting
- Increased thirst and urination
- Checking blood work to assess general health
If you are seeing any of these symptoms, or any others that are not listed here, please contact us for an appointment.
